Ms. LaMorte, School Counselor

My name is Ms. LaMorte and this will be my 7th year at St. Bede the Venerable as the School Counselor. I visit classrooms for guidance lessons, work with students in small groups, and check in with students individually throughout the school year. I have also coordinated some school wide activities over the past few years including BMX Rider, Matt Wilhelm’s Anti-bullying Assembly, The Chicago Bears “Bear Down on Bullies” Assembly, and Jr. High's Career Day. I am looking forward to seeing all of our students back in our building and excited to meet our new students and families! This is going to be a wonderful school year!

Q. Is a school counselor the same as a therapist?
A. No, a school counselor supports students in the academic setting helping them to have a successful, safe, and happy school year.

Q. How often will my child see the school counselor?
A. As a school counselor, I provide short term counseling to students (approximately 6-8 weeks). If a child requires additional support, I am happy to provide resources for mental health therapists or other community resources.
