Meet the Teacher

Hello from Room 117!  I'm Mrs. Lohan, and this is my thirteenth year as the reading and math interventionist at St. Bede through the ESSA Title I program.

I have been involved in education in various ways for the past twenty years.  I love teaching and sharing knowledge.  I have a B.A. in English from Elmhurst College (now University) and an M.A. in Teaching from Dominican University.

As you can see from my undergraduate degree, I love to read.  I have so many books at home that I can't even fit them all on my shelves!  On top of that, I always have a pile of books in the waiting to read.  I enjoy being outdoors; fresh air and sunshine just make my day.  I love warm weather, dark chocolate, animals (especially otters), and nature (but I hate the cold).  My favorite sport is soccer.  I played for 8 years and coached for several years for AYSO Region 423, Evergreen Park High School, St. Barnabas, and Queen of Peace High School.  I also enjoy exercising, running (I have completed 4 marathons [26.2 miles] and 2 half marathons [13.1 miles]), and dancing.

A couple of fun facts about me: I worked at the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville for four years where I helped children learn through play.  I also worked at Walt Disney World for 1 1/2 years.  The best position I had there was as an education facilitator for the education programs where I used the parks and the attractions to learn.  I bet you didn't know you could learn at Disney World!

I very much enjoy working with your child(ren).

Please feel free to contact me (via e-mail is the best way to reach me) if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's learning. [email protected]
