What is ClassDojo? Teaching Tips and What's New | Tech ...

ClassDojo is free, safe, and simple!

How it works:

  • Communication: ClassDojo's primary purpose for parents is to facilitate communication with the teacher.

    • Direct Messaging: You can send and receive private messages with your child's teacher, and these messages are automatically translated into over 35 languages. This makes it easy for parents and teachers who speak different languages to communicate.

    • Class Story: This is a private feed for your child's class, where the teacher shares photos, videos, and announcements. You can see what the class is learning and doing throughout the day.

    • School Story: Similar to Class Story, but for the entire school. School leaders and teachers can post updates, photos, and videos for all connected parents and teachers.

  • Behavior and Skills Tracking (Dojo Points): A core feature of ClassDojo is the ability for teachers to give students "Dojo Points."

How to Get Started as a Parent

  1. Get a code from the teacher: Your child's teacher will provide you with a unique parent code. This code links you to your child's account.

  2. Download the app or go to the website: ClassDojo has a mobile app for iOS and Android, and you can also access it from a computer.

  3. Create an account: You'll use the code the teacher gave you to create your free parent account and connect to your child's class.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

  • Privacy and Safety: ClassDojo is designed to be a private and safe platform. Messages are private, and teachers and parents do not see each other's phone numbers. Class and school stories are not public and can only be seen by connected members of the community.

  • A Tool for Partnership: Think of ClassDojo as a tool that helps you and the teacher work together as a team to support your child's learning and growth. It's a way to stay connected and informed about what's happening at school, making it easier to have conversations with your child about their day.
